LHC Police Explorers
The Lake Havasu City Police Department is a proud sponsor of the Law Enforcement Explorer Program. This program gives young men and women a hands-on chance to determine if they want to pursue a career in law enforcement. It also builds trust and cooperation between youth and the police department.

JOIN

Over the years, our Explorer Program has consisted of many Explorers graduating from the program and moving into a career in law enforcement. Join our ranks!

Qualifications

  • Be 14 (and having passed the 8th grade) to 20 years of age.
  • Currently attend high school, graduated from high school or have obtained a GED.
  • Maintain a “C” grade average or higher.
  • Have a good moral character.
  • Not have a serious police record, must be willing to submit to a complete background check.
  • Be of good mental and physical health.
  • Take and pass a written exam.
  • Be able to attend weekly Explorer meetings.
  • Be willing to volunteer your time to attend Explorer functions.
  • Be willing to commit to the Explorer code and exemplify the professional image of the Lake Havasu City Police Department.

Each Explorer must “retire” from the Explorer Post upon his/her 21st birthday

 

How to Apply

  • Obtain an Explorer Application and LHC Volunteer Packet (from the High School Resource Officer, or at the Police Department).
  • Complete both the application and volunteer packet, and return them to the Police Department or the High School Resource Officer.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Explorer staff and advisors make a determination on acceptance or non-acceptance into the program.
